Wisteria Maiden
JUURI, the Tokyo-born Oklahoma-based artist, was commissioned to create this stunning mural for the private dining area of Nashville sushi restaurant Wild Wasabi. Famed for her delicate and powerful large-scale modern Japanese paintings, JUURI blends saturated colors with traditional Japanese patterns and imagery resulting in installations that demand reverent company. The mural pays homage to the Wisteria Maiden (Fuji Musume) a classic Japanese beauty first introduced through kabuki dance by Katsui Taisuke. JUURI's work invites profound admiration, transforming the restaurant space into a sanctuary of cultural and artistic convergence.

“I explore the juxtaposition of broad washes and tight detail, realism and non-objectivity, tradition and modernism, innocence and mortality. I hope you as the viewer are engaged, intrigued, mesmerized. My work is a true representation of the thoughts and strivings that are in my soul.”
