Ginger Pig
2021
Denver, CO

Problem:

Chef Natasha Hess had a very successful food truck and food stall, both branded as Ginger Pig. During the Covid shutdown of 2020, she decided to take a leap of faith into a full brick & mortar. The space was small and the budget matched.

With a wide diaspora of Asian street foods on the menu, and a visual brand that previously only existed on the side of a truck, the brand needed to evolve into an interior setting that didn’t feel stereotypically “Asian” while still maintaining the edgy, casual vibe it was known for.

Solution:

With an especially tight budget, you have to prioritize your big moves. A custom mural by Oklahoma-based artist JUURI was that big move for Ginger Pig. Building from the existing brand colors of blue and gold, we decided to add red and black for contrast and energy. The street-art-style mural over the existing slat wall grounds the small dining room with the perfect edgy energy.

The sourcing bottlenecks of high-Covid combined with an aggressive timeline turned us to working with US stocked materials and local fabrication. Reclaimed wood received a moody makeover with dark epoxy for the booths & bartop. The corrugated ceiling cleaned up the existing conditions quickly and efficiently, and as a bonus, add an amazing reflective effect to the neon sign and affordable market lights.
