unique scalability

Postino
2023
Boulder, CO

Problem:

With plans for rapid growth in new markets, this hip, Phoenix-based wine & bruschetta concept known for its lively and offbeat midcentury modern decor faced the unique challenge of needing to scale but wanting each location to feel like a local gem.

Additionally, each new market often came with the added challenge of working with a new General Contractor and often a new Architect. With a plan to open 2-3 new locations a year, creating an environmental brand that was standardized enough for scalability yet flexible enough to let each location have its own personality while still maintaining the lush, energetic vibe the brand is known for.

Solution:

Identifying what makes a Postino feel like a Postino and which design elements have flexibility without impacting long lead time items, such as custom millwork and FF&E, became our guiding light.

Standardizing kitchen, bar, and seating made layout, engineering, and schematic design more efficient.

Booth fabrics, wallpaper, and wall tile became elements we mixed up from location to location. Sourcing vintage light fixtures and funky, original, vintage lounge furniture brings authenticity and uniqueness to each locale.

A locally inspired art wall is featured in each Postino connecting it through a story to the community it will serve.
